Sol Yanim Turkish Drama Storyline:
The storyline of the television series "My Better Half," also known as "Sol Yanim" (which translates to "my Left Side"), centres on the complicated love affair that develops between the characters Serra and Selim, who were meant for one other yet come from different worlds. You will also observe a little girl's battle to survive while living among wealthy people. When they are forced to spend more time together, will Serra and Selim be able to get along? What kind of response do you think Selim will have when he finds out that Serra does not come from a rich family? How are Selim and Serra's parents connected? Selim's father Ihsan is married to Serra's mother Nilgun. Will Selim and Serra end up falling in love with one another despite the fact that they come from very different social backgrounds and familial situations? Will Burak be successful in attracting Serra's attention? Will Biricik keep loving Selim despite the fact that he doesn't return her feelings? Will there be peace in the world again once Selim has forgiven his father?
Young female architect Serra (Ozge Yagiz) attends Istanbul's Kuzey University. She's a stunning young woman who's also mature and responsible. Nilgun (Esra Bezen Bilgin) and her daughter struggle to make ends meet in a makeshift shack.
Serra and her family were living well and happily seven years ago. Their tranquil existence was shattered, however, when her father's company failed. After then, a series of disasters unfolded. Her dad abandoned the family and vanished. Sadly, her brother took his own life and died. Her mother's physiological state reflected her inability to cope.
Since then, Serra has assumed the role of patriarch. She helps take care of her mother while while attending school and working part-time to make ends meet. Given her mother's ongoing health issues, she seldom leaves the house. So, Serra handles everything from cooking to cleaning when she finally gets home after a hard day of school or work.
Although Serra finds life to be challenging, she never complains. She makes an effort to put up an optimistic and powerful face while her mother is there. She, too, struggles to move on from the tragedy of her brother's death but does so whenever she can.
After spending half of her day as a maid at a prestigious hotel, Serra spends the rest of her time in college. A miscommunication upends her tranquil existence.
After impressing a well-known businessman staying at the hotel, she is given a lift. For the sake of avoiding missing class, Serra accepts the offer. Yet, she is taken aback when she spots a black limousine outside the hotel lobby.
Serra takes the black limousine to school. Everyone on campus seemed to be staring at her all of a sudden. Their assumptions about her family's wealth lead them to investigate her further.
Even the school's popular kids want to figure out who this strange girl is. When everyone seems to be staring at the same attractive girl, Biricik (Cemre Baysel) and Burak (Emre Bey) can't help but be inquisitive about her.
Selim (Tolga Mendi), a student at Kuzey University, coincidentally runs into Serra as well. Selim has more friends than anybody else in his class. He has the perfect combination of good looks, ego, cash, and charm. Serra's mentality makes it such that she can't help but get into arguments with the popular boy at school, despite the fact that every other female seems to have a crush on him.
Selim was born into a privileged family. The only thing missing from his life is the affection of his family. His mother died of an illness while he was young, and later he found out that his father, Ihsan (Cansel Elcin), had an affair with another lady around the same time. After that, Selim and his father's relationship deteriorated when his father married the cunning Asena (Defne Samyeli).
Selim seems to disregard his own life and always does what he wants. This causes tension between him and his father, who has lofty standards for his son. As a matter of fact, Selim actively seeks to infuriate his father in an effort to alleviate his own feelings of hurt and disappointment.
The paths of Selim and Serra's lives cross again. Master Onur, the headmaster and Ihsan's son-in-law, hires Serra to be Selim's personal tutor. He believes that if Selim were to shadow a top student, he would be able to improve his own academic performance.
From that point on, Selim and Serra begin to learn from and teach one other in the classroom. Even though they argue for no reason and have strong biases against one another, the more time they spend together, the more they begin to appreciate one other's merits.
Serra and Selim's study hall mandates are causing fresh fights at school. Both Biricik, who has secretly had affections for Selim for a long time, and Burak, who has developed feelings for Serra, are troubled by this union. Serra doesn't reveal anything about her background, but Selim guesses she comes from money.
